Chennai Police have arrested Ganesan, a man who worked for 23 years as an assistant to granite businessman ‘Jem’ Veeramani (85), after allegedly finding videos related to sexual assault of two minor girls on his mobile phone.
Veeramani has already been arrested under the POCSO Act and remanded to Puzhal prison. Police earlier arrested Shanti (60) and her husband Mahendhra Simhan (63), alleging they helped by keeping the minors in a rented house in Teynampet and facilitating contact with the accused.
Investigators are also looking into claims that a complaint made during a previous DMK government was closed after an inquiry citing lack of evidence. The Central Crime Branch is examining how the earlier probe was handled.
Police further say they are probing allegations that Veeramani attempted to evade arrest and influence the case through intermediaries after selling an ECR property said to be worth ₹100 crore and distributing large sums. A summons has been issued to Prakash, reportedly linked to the money trail, though police were told he has gone abroad.
According to police, Ganesan—now employed at Balaji Global Enterprises—did not disclose how he obtained the videos or who sent them. He was arrested for allegedly possessing the material and failing to inform authorities, while the source and circulation of the videos remain under investigation.
