Chennai: Minister Rajmohan on Tuesday said the Veeramani sexual assault case is under the Chief Minister’s direct and close monitoring, asserting that “no one can escape” in the matter.
Speaking to reporters in Chennai, he also commented on political ties, saying the alliance between the Communist parties and the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam remains firm and cordial. He described the relationship as friendly and said senior leaders from the Communist side continue to guide them.
However, Rajmohan raised questions about how the Veeramani case was handled earlier. Referring to remarks that a video was “not clear,” he asked who had ordered the filing of a report to close the case and whether the decision was taken by an individual, a minister, an official, or a former chief minister.
He further alleged that despite a year of DMK rule, no investigation had proceeded against Veeramani and questioned who had stalled the probe or instructed silence. Rajmohan said an inquiry is also examining whether money was misused when influential and politically powerful individuals get entangled in such cases, adding that the government aims to restore people’s basic rights.
