Chennai police on Tuesday conducted searches at locations linked to Veeramani, the owner of Gem Granites, who has been arrested in a sexual assault case registered under the POCSO Act.
According to police, Veeramani has been remanded to Puzhal prison. The investigation has also led to the arrest of Shanti (60), her husband Mahendra Simhan (63), and Ganesan, who is said to have worked as an aide for 23 years.
Police allege that the accused stayed in a rented house in Teynampet and used inducements such as new clothes and gifts while facilitating the abuse. Investigators said the inquiry has intensified after videos allegedly related to the assault of two minors aged 7 and 13 were seized.
As part of the probe, the Central Crime Branch carried out raids at the Gem Granites office in Royapettah and at Veeramani’s house on RK Salai, police said.
