Chennai: Chief Minister Vijay has announced a cash incentive of Rs 30 lakh for Tamil Nadu badminton player Hariharan, who was part of India’s men’s team that won the bronze medal at the Asian Games being held in Japan.
In a statement, the Chief Minister congratulated the Indian men’s badminton team for securing bronze in the men’s team event, and extended special appreciation to Hariharan for being part of the medal-winning squad.
The incentive will be provided on behalf of the Tamil Nadu government as recognition of his performance. The statement noted that Hariharan has been receiving financial support under the Tamil Nadu Sports Development Authority’s “ELITE Sportsperson Scheme”.
The Chief Minister said the achievement would serve as a major inspiration for the youth of Tamil Nadu, adding that the state government would continue to support athletes’ dreams and wished Hariharan greater success ahead.
