Kerala Police, under an intensified anti-narcotics drive named “Operation Toofan”, said they have stepped up action to curb drug circulation in the state. Officials said more than 12,000 people have been arrested in the past four months and narcotics worth about Rs 20 crore have been seized.
The latest case began near Kannur, where a man identified as Reginas Khan was arrested with 0.6 grams of MDMA. During questioning, police traced the source to a local man, Mohammed Shameel, and recovered 185 grams of MDMA from his house.
Investigators said Shameel told police he had procured the drug from a person named Mustafa in Bengaluru. A police team travelled to Bengaluru and arrested Mustafa, who allegedly claimed the supply originated from Delhi.
Based on this lead, a special team went to Delhi and arrested two women — Sinallo Lillian (36), a Nigerian national, and Philomine San Celine (30), a Cameroonian national. Police alleged they sourced raw materials from various countries, manufactured MDMA in Delhi and supplied it to southern states including Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.
Police said they seized more than 50 fake Aadhaar cards, 15 fake PAN cards, and bank-related documents such as cheques and passbooks. The two women were produced before the Kannur court and remanded to judicial custody.
