AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami (EPS) has urged the Tamil Nadu government to take legal action, without any bias, against anyone connected to the sexual abuse case involving Veeramani.
In a statement, EPS said the reports emerging day by day in the case have been shocking. He noted that allegations of multiple minor girls being subjected to sexual harassment over several years are a matter of deep shame for society.
He said that since the issue—kept out of public view for years—has now come into the open, the police must handle the investigation without any pressure. EPS also referred to media reports suggesting that evidence and witness accounts are surfacing through the ongoing probe.
Reiterating AIADMK’s stand, he said sexual crimes against women and minor girls must be treated with the seriousness they demand. He insisted that regardless of who is involved, or how influential they may be, there should be no protection in a free society.
EPS further demanded that action be taken not only against those directly involved, but also against anyone who helped conceal the matter, irrespective of their position or authority.
