India’s medal count at the ongoing Asian Games in Japan has climbed to 15, comprising one gold, six silver and eight bronze medals.
The 20th edition of the Games is being held in Aichi–Nagoya. On September 24, Indian wushu player Roshibina Devi competed in the women’s 60kg Sanda final.
Roshibina went down to her Chinese opponent in the title bout but finished second to claim the silver medal for India.
Despite missing out on gold, she achieved the distinction of winning a medal at the Asian Games for the third consecutive time.
Roshibina Devi, from Bishnupur district in Manipur, received the Arjuna Award in 2023 for her achievements in sport.
