A tragic fire accident on the Yamuna Expressway in Uttar Pradesh claimed nine lives after a private sleeper bus suddenly caught fire near the Noida International Airport area, police said.
The bus, carrying around 35 passengers, was travelling from Delhi towards Mahoba when flames broke out. While several passengers managed to escape by jumping out through windows, others were trapped inside the burning vehicle.
Fire and rescue teams rushed to the spot and battled for a long time before bringing the blaze under control. Nine passengers were found dead, and multiple injured passengers were taken to hospital for treatment.
Police said many passengers were asleep when the fire started, which may have contributed to the higher death toll. The cause of the fire is under investigation, and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed condolences and directed hospitals to ensure proper care for the injured.
