DVAC police have registered a bribery case against five officials and staff members of the Panruti Taluk Office in Cuddalore district, following allegations that bribes were collected from the public through digital payment apps.
Based on complaints, a DVAC team led by Inspector Anbazhagan conducted a surprise raid at the Panruti Taluk Office on September 22.
During the inspection, officials reportedly found ₹4,600 in cash. The team also identified UPI transactions amounting to ₹6,84,221 through GPay and PhonePe.
Following these findings, a case was registered against Tahsildar Chandran, Revenue Inspectors Vijayalakshmi and Rajalakshmi, driver Rajasekar, and office assistant Vinothraj. DVAC police said further inquiry is under way.
