Tamil Nadu DGP Mahesh Kumar Agarwal has ordered the formation of a four-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) comprising women police officers to probe the POCSO case against granite businessman ‘JEM’ Veeramani.
According to the report, the case relates to allegations that 12 minor girls were sexually assaulted. A POCSO case was registered in October 2025, and the probe was earlier closed citing lack of evidence.
The development comes after what the report describes as key evidence emerging in the matter. Following this, senior officers were moved to the waiting list over allegations of negligence in handling the case.
The SIT will be headed by Police IG Thenmozhi. Joint Commissioner Disha Mittal and Superintendents of Police Mutharasi and Geethanjali have also been included in the team.
