Mumbai: Google has introduced a new feature called ‘Call for Me’ in its Gemini AI technology, designed to place phone calls to companies and shops and fetch required information for users.
While many people now exchange details through platforms such as WhatsApp and Instagram, phone calls are still often needed for tasks like booking a restaurant table, requesting service for home appliances, or asking for price details before buying a product.
With the new feature, users can open the Gemini app on their mobile phone and type “@Call for Me”, then enter the phone number and other necessary instructions. For instance, a user can ask Gemini to reserve a table for two at a specific restaurant at 7:00 pm the next day.
Before placing the call, Gemini provides a brief summary of which number it will contact and what information it will convey. Once the user reviews and approves it, Gemini makes the call, introduces itself, and gathers the requested details.
Users can cancel the call at any time or take over the conversation themselves. The feature has currently been rolled out on a trial basis only in the United States.
