India issued a sharp warning to Pakistan at the United Nations in New York, stating that acts of terrorism will have consequences and that repeating falsehoods year after year does not make them true.
Responding to Pakistan’s comments on cross-border terrorism, Jammu and Kashmir and minority rights, India’s First Secretary at the Permanent Mission to the UN, Petal Gehlot, accused Pakistan of sustaining a long-running policy of cross-border terrorism.
Gehlot said India had already demonstrated that terrorists have no place to run or hide, citing last year’s military action referred to as “Operation Sindoor.”
Calling Pakistan’s lectures on democracy and human rights “ironic,” she alleged that Pakistan functions under military influence and that the world is aware of how minorities are treated there. She added that Pakistan’s conduct reflects terrorism, deceit and double standards.
Reiterating India’s position, Gehlot said Jammu and Kashmir is an integral and inseparable part of India, and alleged that people in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir are denied basic rights and face killings and brutal violence.
