Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu used a striking prop during his address to the United Nations General Assembly in New York, holding up a pager and warning that Hezbollah militants would “surely remember” it.
His remark referred to the September 2024 incident in Lebanon in which pagers used for communication by Hezbollah members reportedly exploded in succession, causing deaths and injuries. The report said the operation was carried out by Israel’s intelligence agency, Mossad.
Netanyahu also spoke in support of Israel’s military actions against Hamas, Hezbollah and Iran, framing them as part of a wider security campaign in the region.
In the same speech, he criticised Turkey, France, Britain and New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani. He further said Israeli forces had fought on “seven fronts” over the past three years and reiterated his pledge to prevent Iran’s leadership from developing nuclear weapons.
He claimed Iran had planned to erase Israel from the world map, and said Israel, together with the United States, had responded with strong strikes against Iran.
