DMK president M.K. Stalin has issued a sharp response to Chief Minister Vijay, saying the CM appeared to have “not updated the script” while raising the JEM Veeramani case. Stalin said he had already spoken in detail on the matter and suggested Vijay had not followed news coverage.
In a statement, Stalin questioned Vijay’s political messaging, alleging contradictions in branding his side as “pure” while fielding a candidate he claimed was brought in from the AIADMK. He also accused the CM of attempting to shift legislators soon after elections and claimed the public was questioning the party’s conduct during campaign events.
Stalin further challenged Vijay’s assertion that the DMK and BJP were no different, pointing to what he described as the ruling side’s sensitivity to the term “BJP” in the Assembly. He asked how often Vijay had opposed the BJP or led protests against it, describing the CM’s approach as limited to what he called “silent” opposition.
On governance, Stalin alleged that the current administration was largely continuing earlier DMK initiatives while failing to deliver on promises, citing the CM’s “empty treasury” argument after coming to power. Referring again to the Veeramani case, Stalin said the High Court had advised against politicising it and urged Vijay to reflect on whether his public conduct matched the dignity expected of a chief minister.
