Allegations raised at by-election rally
Chief Minister and TVK leader Vijay, speaking at a Madurantakam by-election campaign meeting, questioned why DMK president M.K. Stalin had not spoken about the controversy linked to “Jem” Veeramani. Vijay was campaigning for TVK candidate Maragatham Kumaravel.
Claim of cover-up under DMK rule
Vijay alleged that an incident involving the abuse of young girls had taken place during the DMK’s tenure and that the related case was “covered up”. He demanded that Stalin explain what “dealing” had occurred and why, according to him, others connected to the issue were also staying silent.
Remarks on attacks and corruption
The Chief Minister said DMK members had resorted to personal attacks, including remarks about his mother and women who support him, and alleged that Stalin and his family were “enjoying” such comments. He also reiterated accusations of long-running corruption in the DMK and said his party would not allow people to be misled.
Political contest framed as TVK vs DMK
Vijay portrayed the contest as primarily between TVK and the DMK, claiming even DMK leaders were now acknowledging it. He described TVK as “the people’s child” and criticised rival leaders for what he called arrogant talk from within an established party.
