Tamil Nadu’s Abhay Singh won a silver medal for India in the men’s singles squash event at the Asian Games being held in Aichi–Nagoya, Japan.
In the final, Abhay fought hard but went down to Malaysia’s Ng Eain Yow, settling for second place and the silver.
India added another silver in squash when young player Anahat Singh finished runner-up in the women’s singles final, losing 0–3 to Malaysia’s Sivasangari Subramaniam.
With these results, India’s overall medal tally at the Games stood at 32 medals: 4 gold, 14 silver and 14 bronze.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay, in a post on X, congratulated Abhay Singh and announced a cash incentive of Rs 50 lakh from the state government, saying the achievement would inspire young sportspersons in Tamil Nadu.
