A monkey wandered into an open liquor shop in Ranchi, Jharkhand, triggering a bizarre scene that has since gone viral online.
Shop staff tried to lure the animal out with biscuits, but it refused to leave. After spotting rows of bottles, the monkey picked up a quarter bottle.
Witnesses said the monkey bit off the cap with its teeth and drank the liquor completely, while employees watched, unsure how to intervene.
A short while later, the animal appeared intoxicated and lay down at the same spot. Forest department personnel arrived after being informed, placed the monkey in a cage and took it away.
The incident, described online as the monkey getting “knocked out” by alcohol, has been trending on social media.
