Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Friday said India has the potential to achieve economic growth of more than 10%, powered by startups and emerging technologies.
Speaking at an event organised by the IIT Madras Alumni Association in Bengaluru, she said technology, innovation and collaborative efforts could help the country reach such a high growth trajectory.
She added that stronger growth would accelerate progress towards the goals of Atmanirbhar Bharat and Viksit Bharat. Sitharaman also noted that the startup ecosystem has been expanding since 2015 and can make a significant contribution to the economy.
Urging people to avoid negative thinking that underestimates India’s progress, she pointed to the impact of advanced technologies in agriculture, including connecting farmers to markets and speeding up harvesting and land preparation.
