Chennai: We The Leaders organisation president Annamalai has condemned what he called a growing “competition” among political leaders over who can speak in the most vulgar manner in public.
His remarks came after he shared on Instagram a video clip from by-election campaigning in which Opposition leader Udhayanidhi and Minister Aadhav were seen trading personal and derogatory comments at each other.
In his post, Annamalai said Tamil Nadu politics was rapidly turning into a contest of how low public speech could sink, and warned that young people were watching these developments closely.
He urged leaders to maintain civility and responsibility in public discourse, adding that even if they could not show the youth the right path, they should at least not push them towards a “dark path” through uncivil behaviour.
