Chief Minister Vijay offered prayers at the Meenakshi Amman Temple in Madurai on Monday evening, following a day of official engagements in the city.
Earlier, he launched a scheme at the Madurai Government Hospital to provide a “Thaymaman gold ring” to babies born in government hospitals. He also opened the renovated Gandhi Museum, upgraded at a cost of Rs 10 crore, for public use.
After completing the programmes, the Chief Minister rested at the Government Tourist Bungalow. Later, he travelled by road to the temple.
He was received by HR&CE Minister Ramesh and temple trustees, while priests accorded a traditional “poorna kumbha” welcome. The Chief Minister then had darshan of Meenakshi Amman and Sokkanaathar.
The temple visit was streamed live on Dinamalar’s YouTube channel and social media platforms.
