Madurai has been put under five-tier security arrangements ahead of Chief Minister Vijay’s visit on Monday, September 28. Police deployment has been intensified at the Madurai airport and along key routes in the city.
According to the schedule, the Chief Minister is expected to arrive at 11 am to launch the ‘Thaymaman Thanga Mothiram’ (maternal uncle’s gold ring) scheme for babies born in government hospitals. He will then inaugurate the Gandhi Museum, which has been renovated at a cost of Rs 10 crore, and open it for public use.
After the official events, he will proceed to the government tourist bungalow for lunch and rest. At 5 pm, he is scheduled to offer prayers at the Meenakshi Amman Temple before returning to the airport to depart for Chennai.
Security measures include multi-layered checks at the airport, with vehicles allowed in only after intensive screening by the Central Industrial Security Force and police. Sniffer dogs were deployed to sweep the airport परिसर, drones have been banned, and barricades and temporary fencing have been set up in areas including Mandela Nagar, Avaniyapuram and Chinthamani.
Police have also been positioned on both sides of the road from the airport to the government hospital and along the Chief Minister’s planned travel routes via Anna Bus Stand, the Collectorate and other key junctions leading to the Gandhi Museum, the tourist bungalow and the temple.
