DMK deputy general secretary Kanimozhi has instructed the party’s women’s wing to intensify “thinnai” (doorstep) campaigning for the upcoming by-elections in Madurantakam and Dharapuram.
The directive follows DMK president M.K. Stalin’s instruction to party functionaries to ensure victory in the two constituencies.
A consultative meeting of the DMK Tiruppur East district women’s wing was held in Dharapuram, where Kanimozhi asked cadres to visit homes and take the campaign directly to voters.
According to women’s wing functionaries, they were advised to highlight alleged law-and-order concerns under the current administration, including claims of over 200 murders and more than 300 cases of sexual violence against women and children in the past four months.
They said the campaign should also point to crimes continuing despite the formation of a “Singappen Adhiradi Padai”, and to raise the issue of power cuts by canvassing in affected areas and asking residents whether such outages occurred during DMK rule.
