Income Tax officials on Monday conducted searches at 12 locations in Maharashtra linked to actress Rakul Preet Singh, her father-in-law and film producer Vasu Bhagnani, and the production house Panorama Studios, according to reports from Mumbai.
The searches were carried out on suspicion of financial irregularities, including alleged tax evasion and the transfer of large sums abroad in the name of film production, shooting and overseas distribution. Homes, offices and a film studio were among the premises covered.
Rakul Preet Singh, who has acted in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu and Kannada films, has featured in Tamil movies such as Thadaiyara Thaakka, Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru, Ayalaan and Indian 2. She is married to Jackky Bhagnani, son of Vasu Bhagnani, who runs the film business under the banner Pooja Entertainment.
The report also notes that the Enforcement Directorate had earlier summoned Rakul Preet Singh in connection with a 2021–22 Telugu film industry drug case and money-laundering probe and recorded her statement. Separately, her brother Aman was booked by Mumbai’s anti-narcotics police late last year, with allegations that he purchased drugs multiple times.
Search operations were said to have continued until midnight. The Income Tax department had not issued an official statement on the raids or any documents seized at the time of reporting.
