A by-election will be held on October 6 in the Madurantakam Assembly constituency in Chengalpattu district.
Former MLA Maragatham Kumaravel is contesting the bypoll on behalf of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam. She was elected in the last Assembly election after contesting as an AIADMK candidate.
As part of her campaign in Madurantakam, Maragatham Kumaravel canvassed votes under police security.
