Former minister M.R. Vijayabaskar triggered a light moment during electioneering in Dharapuram after a brief slip of the tongue while seeking votes for the TVK candidate.
By-elections to the Dharapuram and Maduranthakam constituencies are scheduled for polling on October 6. Several parties, including TVK, DMK, AIADMK, the Communist parties and Naam Tamilar Katchi, are campaigning in their respective constituencies.
In Dharapuram, Vijayabaskar—who recently left AIADMK and joined TVK—campaigned alongside candidate Sathyabama, visiting multiple localities to mobilise support.
At one stop, while addressing a gathering of women, he began asking for their “golden votes” for the “double leaf” symbol, before quickly catching himself and urging them to vote for the “whistle” symbol instead.
The moment drew laughter on the spot, with Sathyabama clapping and smiling, and TVK workers present reacting with amused chuckles.
