Chennai Central Crime Branch (CCB) police conducted searches at five locations linked to aides of former minister Mahesh in connection with an alleged money fraud involving private schools.
Investigators say the accused collected money from private school managements by claiming they could secure government recognition and various official permissions. The CCB is continuing its probe into the alleged racket.
Earlier, on September 16, the CCB carried out searches at the houses and offices of Mahesh and his aides, including Valadi Karthi and Arun Prakash. Documents and electronic devices were seized during those operations.
Police also searched houses and shops in Kallakurichi belonging to Saravanan, Ramesh and Gokul Krishnan—relatives of Muthukumar, who is said to be absconding—on suspicion of helping obtain money from private school administrators.
On September 29, searches were conducted at premises in Saligramam, Kodambakkam, Soolaimedu, Poonamallee and Navalur, linked to P.D. Arasakumar, a relative of Muthukumar, and associates of Mahesh’s aides. Police said they seized 44 documents and a laptop.
