Dharapuram bypoll campaign heats up
Chief Minister Vijay campaigned in Dharapuram on Tuesday evening ahead of the October 6 by-election. A public meeting was held in the Chitravuthanpalayam area, where he arrived standing in an open vehicle and greeted supporters gathered along both sides of the road.
Backing candidate Sathyabama
Addressing the crowd in support of candidate Sathyabama, Vijay said some political forces continue to behave as if power belongs to a family even after voters have delivered their verdict. He asserted that his party does not carry what he called a “monarchy mindset” and will not accept the idea that people must remain subservient to any family.
‘Go to the people, live with the people’
Vijay said his politics follows C N Annadurai’s message of going to the people and living with them. He also criticised those who, in his words, forget Annadurai and the party he founded, while aligning indirectly with the DMK for self-interest.
Secular social justice line
He reiterated that his party’s approach is rooted in secular social justice, saying it respects all faiths and extends greetings for festivals across religions. Vijay further alleged that DMK leaders have become forgetful and claimed that history is repeating itself, urging people to recognise the political shift he described.
