India added another gold medal at the Asian Games being held in Japan, winning the women’s 4x400m relay.
The Indian quartet—featuring Coimbatore’s Vidhya Ramaraj along with Prasi and Kiran among the four runners—finished on top to secure the title.
Vidhya Ramaraj has already won a gold, a silver and a bronze earlier, and this medal further boosted India’s overall tally. With this result, India’s gold count rose to 6 and the total medals to 52 (21 silver and 25 bronze), moving the country to 10th place in the medal table.
Chief Minister Vijay congratulated Vidhya Ramaraj for bringing pride to Tamil Nadu and India, and announced that the Tamil Nadu government would award her an incentive of Rs 75 lakh in recognition of her achievement.
In his message, he noted that this was her third medal at the Asian Games and said her success would inspire young sportspersons in the state, wishing her more victories in the future.
