Chief Minister Vijay reached Coimbatore on Tuesday via a special flight and proceeded by road to Dharapuram to take part in by-election campaigning.
He is scheduled to campaign at 3 pm on September 30 in support of T.Ve.K candidate Sathyabama, who is contesting the Dharapuram Assembly bypoll. A public meeting has been arranged at Sitharavuthanpalayam in Dharapuram, where Vijay is expected to address the gathering.
Citing security reasons, organisers have been permitted to allow only 5,000 attendees, with entry regulated through QR-code passes. However, party supporters were seen gathering in large numbers at the venue.
After landing in Coimbatore, Vijay received an enthusiastic welcome from party cadres. He is expected to return to Chennai later tonight after completing the campaign programme.
