India booked a place in the men’s hockey final at the Asian Games after defeating Pakistan 4-3 in a tense semi-final in New Delhi.
India took early control through captain Harmanpreet Singh, who opened the scoring in the 13th minute. He then converted a penalty in the 23rd minute, helping India go into half-time with a 2-0 lead.
Pakistan mounted a strong response after the break, scoring twice to bring the contest level. India regained the advantage in the 43rd minute when Sukhjeet Singh found the net.
Pakistan’s Hanan Shaheed struck again to keep the match on a knife-edge. However, Dilpreet Singh scored in the 60th minute to seal India’s 4-3 win and confirm their spot in the final.
In the other semi-final, Korea face Malaysia, with the winner set to meet India in the title match.
