India booked a place in the Asian Games men’s T20 cricket final after a dominant semifinal win over Sri Lanka on Tuesday.
Sri Lanka won the toss and chose to bowl first. India had early setbacks as Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson fell for 7 each, but Vaibhav Suryavanshi added 37 before departing. Ishan then anchored the innings with 79 as India finished on 169/7 in 20 overs.
Chasing 170, Sri Lanka struggled badly against India’s bowling and lost five batters for ducks. The innings ended at 45 all out in 9.5 overs.
Jasprit Bumrah, Axar Patel and Abhishek Sharma took two wickets each as India sealed a 124-run victory. With the win, India advanced to the final scheduled for October 3, where they will face Pakistan, and also ensured at least a silver medal.
