Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a telephone conversation with US President Donald Trump, focusing on a range of bilateral and international issues.
In a statement, Modi said the leaders discussed cooperation in trade, security, energy and critical technologies. He added that both sides agreed to stay in touch to advance the broader India–US strategic partnership.
The two leaders also exchanged views on regional and global developments, including matters related to international peace and security.
The call comes as India and the United States are working toward a trade agreement aimed at facilitating smoother commerce, with the process said to be in its final stages. It also takes place amid Trump’s warning of imposing a 100% tariff on Indian goods over India’s purchase of crude oil from Russia.
