Chief Minister Vijay, speaking at a public meeting in Dharapuram, launched a sharp attack on the DMK and the AIADMK, alleging that the two parties project hostility in public but maintain an understanding privately.
He said DMK leaders were behaving as if they still held power despite being “sent home” by voters in the Assembly election, and described such thinking as a “monarchical” mindset. Vijay said he did not share that attitude and would protect the trust people had placed in him.
On religion, he said he was not opposed to anyone’s faith and that his side respected all beliefs. He said a “secular social justice victory alliance” had been formed on that basis, and added that they would extend greetings for festivals including Krishna Jayanthi, Christmas and Bakrid.
Vijay also took aim at DMK leaders’ public statements, alleging they were accustomed to “acting on stage” while claiming to bow to the people’s verdict. He said attempts to destabilise the government would not succeed, and questioned why AIADMK leaders were angered by his criticism if they were truly opposing the DMK.
Reiterating his charge, Vijay said DMK and AIADMK were wearing a “facade” externally while being in “collusion” internally, and asserted that the present administration represented “true people’s rule.”
