Dharapuram campaign speech
Campaigning in Dharapuram, Chief Minister Vijay took aim at both the DMK and the AIADMK, alleging that the AIADMK was effectively “propping up” the DMK. He said the DMK’s objections to his remarks on the Sarkaria Commission were expected, but questioned why the AIADMK was angered and why it appeared to defend the DMK.
Vijay also criticised the DMK leadership’s public statements, claiming they inadvertently reveal the truth. Referring to comments about voters not supporting the party in Kolathur, he argued that such remarks amount to an admission that mistakes occurred during DMK rule.
He accused opponents of claiming they “bow to the people’s verdict” while not respecting it in practice, and alleged that their focus remained on plotting alliances and strategies. Vijay said the AIADMK had earlier functioned like a BJP “branch” and had now become a DMK “branch”, alleging that both parties mirror each other’s statements and announcements.
Addressing allegations of inducements linked to a leader joining his side, Vijay said the person resigned the post before switching and dismissed talk of “deals” as slander. He claimed the DMK and others were spreading such narratives and urged people not to believe what he called the “two parties’” coordinated claims.
Vijay concluded by portraying his administration as the “people’s own” and asked voters to teach a lesson to those he accused of conspiring to prevent his government from being formed.
