250,000 visas revoked since Trump took office again
The US State Department has said that more than 250,000 visas have been cancelled so far during President Donald Trump’s second term.
Trump assumed office for a second time on January 20 last year. Since then, his administration has pursued reforms under an “America for Americans” approach, tightening immigration rules and introducing stricter controls.
According to the State Department, visas were revoked for multiple reasons including violations of visa conditions, criminal activity, fraud, support for violence against the United States, and actions considered a threat to national security.
Officials said that in August alone, about 175,000 visas were cancelled. The figure reportedly includes around 2,300 visas linked to “birth tourism.”
In a statement issued yesterday, the department described the cancellations as a “historic milestone,” saying it reflects an unwavering commitment to protecting the American public.
