Chief Minister Vijay on Wednesday campaigned in Madurantakam constituency ahead of the October 6 by-election, canvassing votes for TAVEK candidate Maragatham Kumaravel.
As part of the outreach, Vijay led a roadshow in the Mamandur area, where party supporters gathered in large numbers along both sides of the road to welcome him.
During the event, a Murugan idol offered by a supporter reportedly slipped and fell amid the crowd. Vijay stopped his vehicle and received the idol again, according to reports.
He later continued door-to-door and street-to-street campaigning, met farmers in person to seek support, and was seen addressing voters while having tea at a local tea shop.
Campaigning for the bypolls in Madurantakam and Dharapuram is set to end on the evening of October 4. Vijay is also scheduled to hold a roadshow in Dharapuram town from 11 am on October 4.
