Chief Minister Vijay is set to arrive in Coimbatore on October 4 while travelling to Dharapuram for by-election campaign activities.
Officials said the convoy will not follow the usual airport route via Goldwins, Chinniyampalayam and Neelambur to reach Avinashi Road before proceeding further.
Instead, the Chief Minister will travel from the airport through Sitra, Kamarajapuram, Singanallur and Ondipudur to reach the bypass road, and then continue towards Dharapuram.
Police anticipate larger crowds along the revised stretch, citing narrower roads and the public holiday. Authorities said around 2,000 police personnel will be deployed for security arrangements.
