Residents in Israel have been praising Indian pilot Smit Machar, calling him a hero for helping avert a major danger on a flight bound for Tel Aviv.
According to reports, a Flydubai aircraft travelling from Dubai to Tel Aviv on September 30 faced an attempted hijack by the Omani co-pilot. The plot was foiled after Machar acted with courage and presence of mind.
The incident has drawn appreciation from several political leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and US President Donald Trump, who have publicly lauded the pilot’s actions.
Meanwhile, many Israelis have been sharing messages of gratitude and support, saying they “love” the pilot and wishing him a speedy recovery. They have also invited him to visit Israel and be welcomed warmly.
