US President Donald Trump has warned of a “strong attack” if Iran is found to be connected to a recent incident aboard a Flydubai flight headed to Israel.
According to the report, the aircraft was travelling from Dubai in the United Arab Emirates to Tel Aviv with about 180 passengers when a co-pilot allegedly attacked the main pilot, identified as Smith Machar, stabbing him with a knife.
Despite the assault, the main pilot is said to have acted to protect passengers, drawing praise for his response during the emergency.
US and Israeli authorities suspect Iran may have had a role in the incident. Trump said an investigation is under way and added that, based on information he has received, Iranian involvement is possible.
He stated that if Iranian links are confirmed, Iran would face severe consequences.
