TVK has submitted a complaint to the Election Commission seeking action against DMK leader M.K. Stalin, alleging he made derogatory remarks and mocked the appearance of TVK’s Dharapuram candidate, Sathyabama.
The complaint follows a campaign speech in Dharapuram, where Stalin, while canvassing for DMK candidate Suganya, referred to Sathyabama using nicknames and made comments that TVK says amount to “mockery” and disrespect.
TVK leaders said they have also approached the Director General of Police, urging that a case be registered under provisions related to violence against women. The remarks have drawn criticism from TVK, the BJP and VCK, who said such language towards women is unacceptable.
Meanwhile, Minister Nirmal Kumar told reporters at Coimbatore airport that a complaint would be filed with the Election Commission over Stalin’s speech and demanded a public apology. He also made sharp political comments, claiming the DMK leadership had revealed its “true face” during the campaign.
Nirmal Kumar further denied allegations that TVK distributed money to voters, saying such claims should be proven. He also referred to protests held by TVK against SIR and made broader remarks about future electoral outcomes.
