Chennai: Chief Minister Vijay has condemned DMK leader M.K. Stalin’s speech at a campaign meeting linked to the Tarapuram Assembly by-election, alleging that the remarks were defamatory and uncivil.
In a statement, Vijay said Stalin mocked TAVEK’s Tarapuram candidate, Sathyabama, and spoke in an indecent manner during what was projected as a public campaign meeting.
Vijay further accused the DMK of repeatedly making obscene comments about women, and alleged that such tendencies have been cultivated within the party over time.
Calling the DMK “anti-democratic,” Vijay said people of Tamil Nadu—especially voters in Tarapuram—would deliver an appropriate response. He added that he was registering his strong condemnation as a son and brother of Tamil women.
