Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay, campaigning in Dharapuram on Saturday, issued a strong warning against derogatory remarks about women, saying he would not remain silent if such comments were made.
Addressing supporters during a roadshow held to canvass votes for his party’s candidate Sathyabama, Vijay said he could tolerate criticism directed at him personally, but would not accept attacks on women. He described such remarks as unacceptable and said he would respond firmly.
Vijay also pushed back at claims that his repeated visits to the constituency reflected “election fear,” stating that he meets people not only during election time. Referring to his recent campaign stop at Maduranthakam, he said interacting with residents across villages had been a happy experience and that he had come to meet the people of Dharapuram in the same spirit.
In his appeal to voters, Vijay urged people to turn out on October 6 with their voter IDs and vote for the “whistle” symbol, asking families and neighbours to go together to the polling booth. He said he was confident of victory and asked supporters to stay hopeful.
