DMK president M.K. Stalin on Saturday alleged that the self-respect of voters had been “priced” and called on people to deliver a strong message in the Madurantakam Assembly by-election.
In a video address released under the title “Honourable voters of Madurantakam”, Stalin said the bypoll should be used to “teach a proper lesson” to what he described as the arrogance of the ruling party. He claimed the present government was not formed to serve the public.
Stalin further alleged that “mafia groups” were looting Tamil Nadu and that the state was being pushed backwards. He said the ruling side’s focus was on protecting its government by “buying” MLAs.
Calling it a test for the electorate, he urged voters to punish both the ruling party’s arrogance and what he termed the candidate’s betrayal, adding that only a decisive verdict in this election would prevent such injustices in the future.
