Police have registered a case against DMK Youth Wing secretary and Leader of Opposition Udhayanidhi Stalin, alleging violation of election model code of conduct during campaigning in Dharapuram.

According to the complaint, Udhayanidhi addressed a campaign meeting in support of DMK candidate Suganya and allegedly made an eight-year-old boy speak from the campaign vehicle. The child is accused of seeking votes and making remarks seen as insulting Chief Minister Vijay. Election rules prohibit using children for election campaigning, and Tiruppur district police said they examined the video before booking the case at Dharapuram police station.

In a separate development, TVK cadres have filed complaints across Tamil Nadu against DMK president and former Chief Minister M.K. Stalin. They alleged that during a campaign event in Dharapuram on October 2, he mocked TVK candidate Sathyabama through remarks about her appearance.

TVK members said they submitted complaints at more than 20 locations and also approached the Election Commission, urging action including under laws related to harassment of women. With campaigning for the Madurantakam and Dharapuram bypolls ending at 6 pm on Sunday, the allegations involving the father and son have triggered political buzz ahead of polling from 7 am to 6 pm on Monday.
