New Delhi: The Union Cabinet on Tuesday praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s achievements over the past 25 years, spanning his tenure as Gujarat Chief Minister and later as Prime Minister, according to Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.

The Cabinet met in Delhi under Modi’s chairmanship on October 6. Vaishnaw said ministers unanimously commended the Prime Minister’s public service, and a resolution was adopted in the Cabinet to mark the milestone.

He added that as India’s GDP continues to grow in the 7% to 8% range, demand for freight movement is rising. To meet this, highways are being built across the country, while rail connectivity, new waterways and ports are being developed, along with the construction of new airports.

Vaishnaw said planning must anticipate future needs—looking ahead to what will be required over the next decade, including additional railway lines, highways, airports and ports.

He also noted that the Prime Minister has introduced a series of reforms over the past 12 years, including steps aimed at making it easier for micro and small enterprises to access credit.
