Three people were arrested in separate bribery cases across Tamil Nadu on October 5, including a revenue inspector, a civil aviation official and a district health officer, according to officials.

In Chennai’s Sithalapakkam, a revenue inspector identified as Prashanth was arrested by the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) for allegedly demanding and accepting Rs 4,000 to process a recommendation related to land measurement and correction of a name in a patta transfer request. The complainant, Manojkumar of Sembakkam near Tambaram, approached DVAC after refusing to pay.

DVAC officials said a trap was laid and the inspector was caught while receiving the tainted currency. Further inquiry is under way.

In another case, the CBI arrested Sushil Kumar Garg, Deputy Director in the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), and Sachin Keshav Bhane, director of a flight training institute, over allegations of accepting a mobile phone worth Rs 50,000 and Rs 2.50 lakh to overlook deficiencies found during an inspection. The CBI said the inspection was conducted on July 31 at a training centre run near Omalur in Salem district, and the accused were taken to Delhi for questioning.

Separately in Sivakasi, Virudhunagar district, DVAC arrested district health officer Jegaveerapandiyan for allegedly taking Rs 5,000 from a vehicle owner to release pending rent for an outsourced vehicle attached to a National Health Mission mobile team. The complainant, Pandeeswaran of Ethirkottai near Vembakottai, reported the demand to DVAC, which then conducted a trap operation.
