The BJP on Tuesday accused the Congress of circulating a fabricated video that claimed a Delhi Police officer sexually harassed a woman journalist during a protest held in Delhi a few days ago.
According to the BJP, Congress leaders helped amplify the clip, and Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi also posted allegations against the officer. Delhi Police had denied the charge at the time.
BJP leader Pradeep Bhandari said a Delhi Police press briefing later stated that the viral clip was fake and had been created using artificial intelligence. He alleged it was made by a person identified as Nadeem Ahmed.
Bhandari claimed the Congress organisation continued to push what he called a false narrative for about 24 hours, and questioned why Rahul Gandhi and the party were now silent. He demanded that Congress and its leadership clarify their stand on the episode.
