A protest in Delhi demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar has drawn fresh political attention after Rahul Gandhi arrived with his associates and joined the demonstration.
The development comes months after a similar episode in July, when protesters had staged an agitation seeking the resignation of Union minister Dharmendra Pradhan. During that protest, Rahul made a sudden appearance and sat near the Prime Minister’s residence, a move that generated significant publicity.
With the latest protest gaining momentum, Rahul’s participation has again ensured wider visibility for the agitation—and, by extension, for him as well, according to political observers.
The back-to-back appearances have triggered commentary that a long-established party is increasingly seen following the lead of a newer outfit’s protest agenda. Rival parties have mocked that Congress workers may have to look to that group to know what the next agitation will be.
