New Delhi: Visuals of Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra spending time under a banyan tree inside Delhi’s Akashvani Bhavan have been widely shared on social media, with the episode being described as a “protest.”
According to the report, Rahul Gandhi began a march on October 6 demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Police set up barricades and stopped the procession en route.
Despite tight restrictions, Rahul, Priyanka and other Congress leaders entered the Akashvani Bhavan premises through Gate No. 3. Leaders from Congress and the INDIA alliance then gathered under a large banyan tree.
They spread mattresses and floor mats and sat there, while food was reportedly ordered in from leading restaurants in Delhi. The leaders were seen eating, chatting and occasionally speaking to reporters.
Photos and videos focusing on what Rahul was eating and what Priyanka was doing continued to appear online. The report adds that Akashvani staff watched the scene from within the premises.
