Saudi Arabia’s airports in Riyadh and Abha came under attack in an incident attributed to Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi rebels, leaving three people dead and 36 injured, according to reports.

The strikes reportedly involved missiles and explosive-laden drones aimed at the airport premises. The attack triggered heightened tension in the region, as the Houthis have repeatedly targeted Saudi territory in the past.

Officials said three people who were inside the airport complex died on the spot. Among the injured were passengers and staff; the wounded were rescued and taken to nearby hospitals for intensive treatment, with some reported to be in critical condition.

The Houthi group claimed responsibility for the assault. Following the incident, Saudi security forces were placed on alert and air-defence systems were put under intensified monitoring, while several countries issued strong condemnations of the attack on crowded civilian facilities.
